Settling up

Scan any document to PDF — batch pages, share instantly, free.

You already opened FairMate to split the rent. Turns out it also scans the lease, the condition report and the club sign-up sheet — no second app required.

Most people's phones carry a second, forgotten app just for this: a scanner, downloaded once to send a signed lease or a form nobody wanted to retype. All to do one thing — turn a stack of paper into a PDF someone can open. That's a whole extra app for a ten-second task, so FairMate builds it in.

Batch capture, one PDF

Open the scanner from the icon next to the QR button in the top bar and capture pages one after another — a lease, a multi-page form, a receipt too long for one photo. Whether it's one page or twenty, they land as a single combined PDF, in order. Retake a page if the light was bad, then share it anywhere — email, WhatsApp, another app — or save it to your device.

In FairMate

On Android, edge detection crops and straightens each page automatically, the same way a dedicated scanning app would — just without installing one. Nothing about it requires a FairMate group; scan, then share or save.

Where this gets used

  • Before signing a share house: scan the lease for your own copy.
  • At move-out: scan a condition report alongside your move-out settlement.
  • A long receipt or invoice: use the batch scanner instead of the one-shot Smart Receipt Scan.

The full auto-crop experience is Android today; the web version batches photos into a PDF too, just without the automatic straighten pass. iOS is on the way.
