FairMate is operated by MyFairMate Pty Ltd (ABN 24 697 558 606), registered in Australia. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the app:
- Account information — your name and email address when you register
- Profile photo — if you sign in with Google
- Expense data — amounts, splits, and settlement records you create
- Receipt photos — if you choose to upload them
- Usage data — anonymous, aggregated analytics to improve the app
- Push notification token — if you grant notification permission
2. How we use it
- To provide and operate the FairMate expense-splitting service
- To show your name and profile to members of gatherings you belong to
- To send you expense and settlement notifications
- To respond to your support requests
- To improve the app using anonymous usage data
We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
3. Who we share it with
Your name, email, and expense data are visible to other members of gatherings you join. We use reputable third-party cloud and analytics services to operate the app. All providers are bound by data processing agreements and handle data securely. For details, contact us.
4. Data security
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never store raw passwords. Access to your data is restricted to gathering members and authorised staff only.
5. Data retention
We retain your data while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time — see our Delete Account page. Data is permanently removed within 30 days of a confirmed deletion request.
6. Your rights
Under Australian privacy law you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
7. Cookies & analytics
Our website uses anonymous analytics to understand how visitors use the site. You can opt out via your browser settings or ad-blocking tools. The FairMate mobile app does not use cookies.
8. Children
FairMate is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice.
