Terms of Use
Last updated: 28 August 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and MyFairMate Pty Ltd (ABN registered in Australia) covering the MyFairMate apps and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app, and these terms supplement it.
2. What MyFairMate is — and is not
MyFairMate is a record-keeping ledger for shared costs between people who know each other: clubs, share houses, trips and events. It records who paid and who owes, and computes the fewest payments that settle everyone.
MyFairMate is not a payment processor. We do not hold, transmit or convert money, offer credit, or provide any regulated financial service. Members settle directly with each other outside the Service, and we take no part in the transfer. Balances shown in the app are records of what members have entered, not debts we create, verify or enforce.
3. Your account
You must be 18 or older to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app (or see Terms · Privacy · Delete Account); deletion is immediate and permanent.
4. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse
MyFairMate has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. When you share anything through the Service — messages, photos, names, descriptions — you agree not to post content that is harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, violent, or that shares another person's private information without consent, and not to use the Service to abuse, impersonate or defraud anyone.
To keep shared spaces safe, the Service provides:
- Filtering — abusive and explicit content is screened at posting time;
- Reporting — every message and photo can be reported from the app;
- Blocking — you can block any member; you will stop seeing their content immediately, and blocks are reversible in Account → Privacy & safety;
- Action within 24 hours — we review every report within 24 hours, remove content that violates these terms, and eject or disable the accounts of users who post it.
Blocking hides content only. Because members owe each other real money, blocking never changes rosters, expenses, balances or settle-up records.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post. You grant MyFairMate Pty Ltd a licence to host, store, display and transmit it solely to operate the Service for you and the members of your shared spaces. We may remove content that violates section 4, and moderation actions are logged. Organisers of a space can additionally hide content and remove members within that space.
6. Subscriptions
Parts of the Service are offered under an optional paid subscription ("Premium"). Subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are billed by Apple and renew automatically — monthly or yearly depending on your plan — until cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings. Subscriptions purchased on Android are billed by Google Play, and web subscriptions are billed through Stripe, each under the same automatic-renewal principle and cancellable in the respective store or billing portal. Prices are shown before you buy.
7. Acceptable use of the Service
You agree not to interfere with the Service's operation, probe or breach its security, access other members' data without authorisation, use the Service to send spam, or resell it. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do.
8. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law — including the Australian Consumer Law, under which certain guarantees cannot be excluded — we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for disputes between members about money owed. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under law that cannot be excluded.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, including a single serious breach of section 4. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; records already shared into spaces may remain visible to those spaces' members where needed to keep their ledgers accurate.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email, and continuing to use the Service after they take effect means you accept them. The app may ask you to re-accept updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, and disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
